The Mask We Share

This is a very different piece for me than my usual stuff. Though simple and still in my cartoon style, it deals with some issues that I'm not use to sharing openly. For many years I've struggled with mental disorders. Mostly depression and OCD, but also a few other things. This isn't common knowledge though, some members of my own family don't even know that I have these issues. Since I was a kid I've made it a point to hide these parts of me from the outside world, in hopes of avoiding negative stigmas. The truth is though many people have issues, it's not that uncommon, and it doesn't mean I'm completely crazy. It just means I have trouble processing certain things and need to work on that. So in the spirit of removing stigmas and supporting mental health awareness I decided to make this piece. I hope others can relate and connect with this illustration.
